KID REVERIE
Below are the songs I've released recently. I'm into releasing singles that are musically unpredictable right now. Enjoy.
Your Room is out now. I wrote this song a while back but finally found an iteration of it that I'm happy with. There's something that feels extra vulnerable about releasing a love song. As a songwriting teacher, I know there is no bigger clichè in music, but it can still be done in a clever way sometimes, and once I had the frame on the wall idea I couldn't get it out of my head.
I hope you're out there loving somebody.
How It Feels is out now. Thanks to everyone for listening. Gotta get home from tour with Gregory Alan Isakov and then I'm gonna finish up a few more songs.
I'd have to say this is a pandemic song. It came from listening to a friends poem. She's a teacher and she described a moment where a parent came in and complained that two teenagers were kissing outside and how they shouldn't allow that because of Covid.
I couldn't get that surreal experience out of my mind. An adult tattling on teens for kissing. Everyone was right and wrong all at the same time.
It's also about me losing my mind during lockdown anyway goodbye.
Wild West out now. Thank you for all the love for this song. It was a song that came out in a fury of words and I wondered if I should even release it. I'm glad I did.
My first banjo instrumental, 30 Turkeys, out now. Go listen
This was such a fun song to write. Our farm was actually visited by 30 turkeys one day. I was already writing part of the song but it badly needed something else. After the horde of turkeys moved along, my daughter said, "You should make your banjo sound like a turkey for your song" and I went on to write the B section.
I'm sorry if the artwork freaks you out. I kinda hope it does but I also hope it's funny. It was from a dream I had where this James Dean turkey dude was just chillin' and chattin' about his goings ons. I figured he took the time to visit me in a dream, I'll put him on the cover.
